Here It Is

Well, if you haven’t had a chance to brush up on Our Story, this whole concept began nearly a year ago when we wanted to turn our silly little road trips into something much more substantial. For some reason we feel that sneaking into abandoned buildings and eating in sacred diners and waking up next to semi-dead roaches are all experiences we need to share with others. And share, not just with our friends and family, but with the whole world. Will our crazy obsession with old stuff translate to you? Maybe not, but don’t let that turn you away! Never in a million years did I think I’d get a genuine thrill out of finding a hole in a fence that is supposed to keep people out. Never in a billion years did I think I’d actually seek out vacation hot spots like Anthony, KS or Ironwood, MI or Amboy, CA or Chippewa Lake, OH. And staying out till 2:30am on a weeknight because we took pictures of this old weeded-over street car in the middle of a field? Nope. None of that. It’s strange, but there is a sort of magic in this archeological exploration we do. We learn stuff too. I mean you just look lazy if you post urb-ex photos to Flickr without any explanation. So now I know why Gary, Indiana is the way it is. It’s sad, but intriguing and part of our modern American history. So with that, Chris and I really hope you stick around! Keep up with our various adventures, learn something new about subject matter you never gave a second look, and even send us to crazy and completely weird places you know of! This is the part we are most looking forward to in our Fading Nostalgia mission. So thanks in advance for tagging along! Road trips will be that much cooler with you guys.

PS! In one week…

Thursday, Sept. 8th–we’re going to reveal quite the huge Fading Nostalgia side project on our Facebook page! Hint: It will be a way you can literally be a part of our California road trip this October. So head over there next Thursday and check it out. Don’t worry, I’ll probably do a good job of reminding you.
