Dashboard Falcon – Owanka, South Dakota
$40.00 – $525.00
Long Exposure Photograph of the interior of a vintage Ford Falcon that rests quietly in the old ghost town of Owanka, SD. You do your best thinking behind the wheel – especially when it glows bright with red and blue flashlights. We did plenty of our best thinking as we traveled the dusty byways of the Dakotas that cold week in late autumn. We battled a blizzard to get to this one, but it was worth the extra effort. Three to four hours of light-painting, we soaked up as much as we could out of this ghost town, full of rusty treasures. Owanka, which roughly translates to “good camping ground” in Lakota, was not our final resting place that night. We gathered our exhausted bones and headed for Wall, home of the bumper sticker drug store, with sweet dreams of 5¢ coffee and maple glazed donuts leading the way.
