16″ x 24″ No Parking Fuss – Wisconsin
$325.00
16″ x 24″ Long Exposure Photograph of an old 1940s-era Pullman-Standard trolleybus (or trolleycoach) nestled in the middle of a field about a half hour outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Trolleys like these, while still attached to the electrical transportation system, now ran on wheels rather than tracks. They essentially kicked off the replacement of the early 20th century street car system (and electric system in general until Milwaukee brought back “The Hop” – a modern and very politicized street car). Legend has it, some one bought number 279 here and ditched it in this distant Milwaukee exurb. Several years ago, due to frequent complaints, the bus was removed. No one’s quite sure if it was a collector or sold for scrap. Next time you’re circling the block for the 40th time during summer festival season, you may remember the old marketing line: “Travel by bus, no parking fuss.”
