Tek School – Tekamah, Nebraska

SKU: TEKY

Long Exposure Photograph of an old one-room schoolhouse that sits on top of a corn field near Summit Lake on the eastern edge of Nebraska. While the history of this place is a mystery, one can only imagine kids of all ages, scampering down the dirt roads to travel to and from school, while their parents did farm and housework back at home. A little cubby for muddy shoes still exists right inside the doorway while the southern face of the building has collapsed back into the earth. Who knows how much longer this lonely place will stand? We were happy to create a few good shots (this one using a bright yellow flashlight), while curious neighbors drove slowly past our location in their pickup trucks – likely no stranger to photographers who love these abandoned spots, but perhaps, not so keen on the ones who stop by at midnight.
